Award for new development went to Keller AG.
Keller received an award at Bau 2009 in Munich - the largest building and construction trade fair in Europe - for its entry in the ‘Innovation Price for Architecture and Construction’. The entry consisted of the development of so-called ‘Minimal Windows’. The ‘Innovation Price’ competition was sponsored by the architectural journals ‘AIT’ and ‘IntelligenteArchitektur’ and was addressed to designers and manufacturers of innovative products from all areas of the construction industry. Those responsible for judging the entries based their assessment on quality of function and design, authenticity of material and product versatility. This Innovation Price was awarded this year for the 44th time. A total of 67 products were submitted and the decision made by a jury consisting of a panel of five renowned architects and interior designers, this reveals the significance of this award.
The ‘Minimal Windows’ have been developed in-house at Keller, and are characterised by almost frameless transparency. This means that sliding doors for both interior and exterior use, hardly exhibit any profiles which could limit the view. This guarantees a completely new spectacular appearance and perspective.
New about this system is on the highly precise guidance on the runners and the running gear which is integrated into edge of the glass unit and on the other a fully automatic electro-mechanical closing system. The entire concept can also be used as an integral component of a home conservatory.
This technological breakthrough sets new standards for conservatory construction. ‘Minimal Windows’ and ‘Glass extensions’ are attracting more and more attention in the public eye, construction specialists and architects. Large-scale insulated glass elements and slim profiles are understandably desirable and the new trend in contemporary architecture.
As early as six years ago, Keller AG participated in Bau 2003 in Munich and presented the new concept ‘Orangerie Elegance’ and ‘Orangerie Classic’, which have been a major success throughout Europe. ‘Minimal Windows’ are becoming an increasingly popular innovation with superb functional ability and extremely aesthetically pleasing.
